Nettle (Urtica dioica) root is commonly used in herbal medicine to reduce pain and inflammation. Limited studies on humans have also suggested that it may reduce urinary symptoms associated with BPH. Saw palmetto combined with beta-sitosterol may lower levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) — a protein that can signal an issue with prostate health — and improve urinary symptoms. Saw palmetto may also prevent cancer cell growth in the prostate.
